Critical Librarianship: Questioning with Purpose and Hope

Penn State University Libraries’ Instruction Community of Practice is exploring the theme of critical information literacy, and they invited me to speak about critical librarianship and critical info lit at a day-long workshop in State College, PA. It was wonderful to speak with this group of librarians and archivists across their system and consider ways to engage with the social, political, and economic dimensions of information through library instruction. Here are my speaking notes and slides from the event.

Questioning What’s Given, for a Better Librarianship

The Virginia Library Association College and Research Libraries Chapter’s spring program was on critical librarianship in higher education, and they were kind enough to invite me to speak on critical librarianship and lead an afternoon discussion group. Here are my speaking notes and slides from the morning’s keynote presentation.
